Rosberg managed to win pole position in the Hockenheimring, ahead of Bottas and Massa, both racing for Williams, who put up strong opposition against Mercedes’ drivers.
Mercedes had a tough day, and Hamilton’s luck didn’t help. The Englishman had to face disc fault woes, ending up in fifteenth position – a reminder of his negative British Grand Prix qualifying sessions.
