According to the recent study from Forester Research, Facebook Inc( NASDAQ:FB) is the “go-to” site among youth today. According to the study, more than 75% say that they are on the website. This number is double of the numbers seen from Pinterest, Tumblr and Snapchat.
The numbers are also more than the number of teens who use Facebook’s other popular sites, Instagram and WhatsApp, combined. When asked about the frequency of their visit 28% of the teens said that they are on the Facebook social networking site all the time. Also, majority of teens said that they are using Facebook more than they did a year ago.
Facebook looking to attract the Teen Population
With the mobile usage among the teens on a rise, Facebook is also investing on new apps and adding new features to make the website user friendly. Facebook’s newest release, the app Slingchat, has taken a liking among the youth. Slingchat is more like the Facebook version of Snap Chat and with the amount of mobile usage among teens, it is no surprise that the app is popular among the youth.
Facebook also owns WhatsApp, which is popular with youth internationally. In many countries where text messaging is expensive, WhatsApp is a common alternative. It has found its target base and is increasingly establishing itself as a premier messaging service.
