Banco Santander, S.A. (NYSE:SAN) of Spain reported on Tuesday that its third-quarter profit rose 52 percent, posting its strongest earnings in more than two years as the Spanish economy continued to recover. For the three months ended Sept. 30, Santander said profit rose to 1.61 billion euros, or about $2 billion, from €1.06 billion in the period a year earlier.
