It has been reported that iWatch will come in a 1.6 inch model and two distinct versions of the 1.8 version. One of the latter versions will feature a sapphire crystal display. It is also reported the iPhone 6 will feature a sapphire screen. Because sapphire crystal is rather expensive, it might make sense to manufacture a 1.8 inch watch with sapphire screen instead of an iPhone.
Some luxury watches already feature sapphire crystal displays, so it would not be surprising if Apple’s purported smartwatch had such a premium feature. The actual report does not clarify if the sizes are the actual watch band or screen size.
